Marine Education * Performance Art

Myth of Mermaid is a unification of both Kelly Jo's passions - performing and the marine world.  Kelly Jo is not only a renowned circus artist, she is also a marine biologist.  She obtained her undergraduate degree in Australia while studying the Great Barrier Reef and later moved on to the beautiful shores of North Carolina to study coastal processes for her masters degree.  Kelly Jo currently lives in Baltimore where she coaches circus arts and runs her performance company, In the Dark.

Myth of Mermaid and the Oceans

The oceans are one of our greatest and most magnificent natural resources.  With about 70% of the planet comprised of salt water, the oceans house over 200,000 fascinating species.  With the changing planet, many of these treasures are threatened by pollution, rising sea temperatures, over fishing and environmental change.  Myth of Mermaid believes in outreach, education and most importantly, conservation.  20% of all profits go to one of the many charities that serve and protect our oceans.
